A continuous wire drawing machine is a specialized equipment used in the manufacturing process of drawing wire. It is designed to continuously pull and reduce the diameter of wire rods to achieve the desired thickness. Main body with a base, drawing drum, and drawing die box made of close-grain cast iron.
Water cooling arrangement provided inside the drawing drum and die box.
Phosphorous bronze gears with high carbon axle steel worms.
Suitable for drawing wire rods down to a diameter of 0.7 mm from inlet wire rods of up to 12 mm diameter [1].
Can be used for various materials such as mild steel, high carbon steel, and non-ferrous metals.
Operation details of a continuous wire drawing machine:

The wire rod to be drawn is pointed in a wire pointing machine.
The pointed wire is inserted through the die of the first wire drawing machine and fastened to a locking device on the drum.
As the drum rotates, the wire fastened to the drum gets pulled and coiled around the drum. The drawn wire diameter gets reduced as it passes through the die with a smaller outlet diameter.
The process continues as the wire is drawn through all the wire drawing drums of the set in a continuous manner until the desired finished diameter of the wire is achieved.
When the drum of the last wire drawing machine gets fully loaded with the drawn wire, the machine is stopped to unload the finished material and then restarted. Alternatively, a continuous coiling device can be used to avoid stopping the drawing process.
In case of an accidental snapping of wire in between drums, the snapped ends can be welded using a butt welding machine, and the process can be continued.
